work::sounds – How does the working world sound? 2019/20
A music education project for professional orientation
Under the title “work::sounds – How does the working world sound?”, young people explore different working environments using methods of aesthetic research and actively discover their own relationship to the world of work. Among other things, they explore whether the actual, multi-layered working environments and working conditions can stand up to their existing ideas.
Using the approach of aesthetic research, the students* develop their own sound collages that make specific aspects of today’s working world comprehensible in a sensual way. They ask their own questions to interview partners in the companies, deal with the challenges of the modern working world (from the industrial to the service society), with aspects of health and the working climate and with social and communicative conditions – e.g. which language(s) are spoken, what is the tone?
In the school year 2019/20 the three-part workshop series will be held for the eighth time in cooperation with the Vienna Chamber of Labour and various technical companies. EDUCULT is supporting the project conceptually, organisationally, methodically, musically and technically.
