AEMS – Arts Education Monitoring System
Abstract
By the provision of quantitative data and qualitative descriptions of the structures in different European countries the AEMS will support evidence for policy making processes in Europe. The AEMS will make the development in the domain of arts education more accountable, transparent and comparative. The initiated comparative research of the policy grouping will provide a comprehensive picture of the members´countries and provide a comparative tool for future investigations in Europe.
The policy analysis grouping consists of 5 high-profile cultural policy and arts education research institutions from Austria, Spain, Germany, England and Hungary. Jointly, they have worked on the “European Arts Education Fact Finding Mission“ project led by EDUCULT in 2010, towards the development of a structural tool enabling data comparison on the resource situation.
The follow-up policy analysis activities by the AEMS aim to further develop the tool and enhancing its European scope through accompanying communication activities. This is, among other measures, reached through collaboration with the associated partners ERICarts, IFACCA and Culture Action Europe.
The policy analysis grouping partners are confident that through the communication process, other EU member states and cultural institutions become interested in participating in the AEMS framework, thus enriching the data comparison and cultural cooperation in Europe and contributing to the sustainable impact and visibility of the project, within the Union and beyond.
