All Together
German-Turkish Initiative for Cooperation in Refugee Aid
The project was conceived in 2015, when many refugees arrived in Europe. Turkey has a key role to play in dealing with the social and political challenges this poses for Europe. Germany, too, has assumed a special responsibility. Sustainable relations between Germany and Turkey thus play a special role, as developments have shown. Both countries face the challenge of integrating a large number of refugees.
The project, funded by the Foundation Mercator, aims to facilitate an exchange of experiences between German and Turkish actors in education and integration work and to promote the development and implementation of joint opportunities for the integration of refugees through arts education. At the same time, methods to support multilingualism are to be incorporated into concept development. Six individual project groups with different partner organisations from both countries will focus on refugee children.
Methods
The evaluation asks in particular to what extent the objectives set within the framework of the project have been achieved so far and which materials the project groups have been able to develop so far. In addition, the question arises as to how the cooperation processes have proceeded and how changes have affected the project. What adjustments are necessary due to changed political situations when a follow-up project is developed?
A mixed method approach is chosen for data collection. On the one hand, all participating partner organisations in Germany and Turkey will be involved in the evaluation by means of an online survey. In addition, qualitative, half-open expert interviews will be conducted with the cooperation partners and selected participants.
