Arts Education in Kosovo

Arts Education in Kosovo

Research for the Culture for All Programme of the European Commission

The aim of the programme is to define priorities in the area of culture education in order to support the development of an overall governmental strategy for cultural policy. Specifically, the current relevance of arts and culture inside the education system of Kosovo is analysed. Based on this, realistic and implementable recommendations for the identification of short-term effects and long-term measures are provided to increase the importance of cultural education inside and outside schools.

In April 2016 EDUCULT has been invited to attend a series of workshops with representatives of the Kosovo arts and cultural scene as well as the cultural ministry. In this context also a regional governmental conference took place with representatives of a range of neighbouring cities. During August Michael Wimmer once again travelled to Pristina, Prisren and Peja, in order to talk to local school representatives as well as artists and discuss potential objectives and strategies for arts education.

From 21-22 September another regional conference took place where the new governmental strategy for cultural policy had been presented and discussed.
