CityFilms
Evaluation and monitoring of the school project to support the transition to apprenticeship
The project CityFilms – From School to Artistic Apprenticeship has five goals:
- Strengthening cultural education
- Developing new models of cooperation with young people
- Experiencing self-efficacy of one’s own actions for young people
- Increasing the cultural participation of young people
- Inclusion of soft skills in the curriculum of pre-vocational schools.
Students at polytechnic schools are structurally disadvantaged and have difficulties finding apprenticeships. The project “CityFilms” aims to bring disadvantaged pupils into contact with artistic professions. This is a way to address the difficult transition from school to training. The young people feel their self-confidence by working as filmmakers/artists and at the same time organising an apprenticeship, and expanding their personal competences. Through the project, educational institutions are connected with cultural institutions as potential training places.
Cooperation on an institutional level and competence transfer on an individual level leads to systematic change at this critical interface.
EDUCULT accompanies the project process, the planning, workshops, and film creation. In addition, qualitative methods are used to check which goals have been achieved. The focus here is on the young people and their experiences and perspectives.
