CrossCulture Programme
The “CrossCulture Programme” provides internships of two to three months for young professionals and volunteers of countries in the Islamic world and Germany. They get the possibility to improve their professional as well as their intercultural and socio-political competences. The programme is open for staff of organisations in the fields of knowledge society and education, culture and art, media, economy and development cooperation, international politics and civic education, legal dialogue, justice and human rights as well as environmental science. The ifa (Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations) in Stuttgart operates the programme since 2005 with the support of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany. Since its inception the programme has been significantly further developed. For example, since 2012 CCP alumni in the programme part “CrossCulture Plus” for young professionals and volunteers in North Africa and Middle East have had the possibility to get support for follow-up projects in their home country.
The main programme and “CrossCulture Plus” are part of the evaluation. The central questions concern efficiency, effectivity, impact and sustainability of the programme. It will be focussed on the question of how the self-imposed and overarching goals were reached and which effects could be created. Furthermore, possibilities for advancing the programme will be determined and appraisals towards existing development plans will be given, on the basis of research results.
Methods
The six month-long evaluation includes the combination of quantitative and qualitative methods of collecting data. An online survey, guideline-based interviews with experts, and participating observatories are executed. Additionally, analyses of documents are part of the evaluation.
