One-Person Enterprises in Austria
Between freelance and employment – EDUCULT focus on the culture sector
Short description
The consortium analyses the current situation of one-person enterprises across different sectors, aiming to identify why shifts from regular-employment to self-employment emerge. One important factor of the investigation is if people working in new forms of freelance or one-person enterprises should be regularly employed in legal terms. This is especially relevant in the case of dependency from one (major) client. A previous pilot study in the frame of the AEMS project indicated precarious working conditions for freelancers in the field of arts and cultural education in Austria.
Within the consortium, EDUCULT focuses on arts and cultural educators and cultural workers. Based on the questions developed within the AEMS project, a survey across Austria will be carried out in spring 2014.
The main questions will be on the forms of employment, motivations to work self-employed, the income on the basis of full-time-equivalents and gender.
