Project description
HOME. A Democratic Education Program started in spring 2014 as a cooperation of the Goethe-Institute Budapest and the Krétakör Foundation. The project addresses young people between 14 and 18 and is based on an exchange of knowledge, ideas and thought on democratic action to foster awareness for democracy and citizenship.
The topic is not approached in a traditional learning setting but through a long-term drama pedagogy project that the young people develop together with the Krétakör Foundation. Participation as a key element of democracy is both the project topic and the guideline for the project participants and organizers.
From spring to December 2014, the young people and the project partners Krétakör Budapest and Theater an der Parkaue, Berlin develop interactive games and activities on citizen engagement and democratic action. The projects that are related to their social contexts facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experiences. The evaluation by EDUCULT aims at capturing the results of the project so far and developing strategic recommendations for the development of the project.
Method
The evaluation focuses on the project process and management. In addition, EDUCULT looks at the project capacities to foster the democratic engagement and networking of young people from Germany and Hungary. We will carry out interviews with the project partners and a workshop with the young participants, as well as a document analysis. Towards the end of the projects, we will launch an online survey among the participants to capture their experience.
