kulturen in bewegung
kulturen in bewegung, the cultural department of the Vienna Institute for International Dialogue and Cooperation (VIDC), aims to contribute to social discourse on development policy issues in Austria through art and cultural projects and training. Special emphasis is placed on the involvement of artists and cultural workers from diasporic, migrant, and BiPoC communities in Vienna and from the so-called Global South. These projects and initiatives are intended to promote a differentiated understanding of global interrelationships.Raising awareness of global issues in Austrian civil society and promoting a diverse understanding of culture are central to this. The focus is on strengthening intercultural encounters that promote dialogue and exchange at both local and international level. The programme focuses on participatory, representation-critical and sustainable approaches and aims to anchor the principles of diversity, inclusion and solidarity in all aspects of its work.
The evaluation refers to the first half of the five-year framework programme (2022-2026) of kulturen in bewegung funded by the Austrian Development Agency, with a focus on the projects from 2024, which are being continued in the second half. The evaluation serves to review the effectiveness and impact of the projects to date and as an opportunity for the further development of the programme. In addition to interviews with various stakeholders of the programme, interviews and focus groups will be conducted with artists, cultural workers and cooperation partners, and several events will be accompanied by participant observation. Appreciative inquiry will be used to identify successes and potential, while a SWOT analysis (strengths/weaknesses/opportunities/threats) will identify learning opportunities.
