KulturKatapult
Evaluation of the Viennese Project KulturKatapult
At the end of 2019, the City of Vienna launched a call under the title “KulturKatapult”, which addressed cultural/arts educators. The call was addressed at cultural/arts education projects that cooperate with at least one educational or youth institution. Its aim is to enable young people between the ages of 15 and 20 to participate in cultural activities. In particular, those who have so far had little participation in art and cultural offerings are to be reached.
More than 200 different funding recipients, initiatives, associations and educators have submitted project ideas. A jury selected 14 projects from these, which will now be implemented until the end of 2021.
EDUCULT is supporting the development of the project within the framework of an external evaluation. The main goal is to verify the relevance of the funding concept by questioning its significance for the sector of cultural mediation and for the cultural participation of young people in Vienna. In addition, it will be examined to what extent the project structures and processes support the results and effects of KulturKatapult. Based on this, a report on the results will be prepared and evidence-based recommendations for further development will be made.
Method
The evaluation is based on a mixed-methods approach, which combines qualitative and quantitative methods. Based on a document analysis, interviews with jury members and the project management team will be conducted, focus groups with funding recipients and young people will be established and an online survey with all cooperation partners will be created. These different perspectives ensure a differentiated answer to the evaluation questions.
