Macht|schule|theater

Abstract

Being creative in arts is one of the most important approaches to get in touch on the topic violence and to prevent propensity toward violence. This is the aim of the project Macht|schule|theater which was initialised by the bm:ukk, cultural contact points Austria and DSCHUNGEL Wien in 2008. The project follows the initiative “komA” which was a co-operation between the Viennese school “BG and BRG Rahlgasse”, DSCHUNGEL Wien and the new space company.

During 2008/09 nine theatres were working together with pupils and teachers on projects. During 2009/10 the program involves 13 theatres co-operating with different schools. EDUCULT was asked to evaluate and report the project between the first and the second season, in order to enhance discussion and to reflect on   project. Approach

The topic of the research was the cooperation between the theatres and the schools. The focus of the strudy was therefore directed on the structural- organisational frame, the communication structure and difficulties and the benefits for participants. The aim of the study is to show how a process of reflection occurs within the organisational structure and if not, which are the reasons. The survey had been carried out by qualitative phone interviews with representatives of schools and theatres.
