WUK Werkstätten- und Kulturhaus

Study

The WUK Werkstätten- und Kulturhaus (House for Workshops and Culture) in Vienna is one of the largest socio-cultural centres in Europe, welcoming around 200,000 visitors each year. To learn more about its audience – who attends, what motivates them, and how they perceive the programme – WUK commissioned EDUCULT to conduct a comprehensive audience survey.

EDUCULT developed a bilingual online questionnaire in close cooperation with the client. The questions addressed the overall perception and use of WUK’s cultural offerings and included specific questions for the WUK divisions of Music, Performing Arts, Children’s Culture, and the Kunsthalle Exnergasse. The survey was distributed via newsletter, social media, posters, and postcards, and remained accessible for just under six weeks.

The collected data were statistically analysed and discussed with the WUK team in a validation workshop, bringing together different perspectives to inform the interpretation and draw conclusions for practical work and strategic audience development. The findings were compiled in a final report.
