Scientific Storytelling
Evaluation of the "Scientific Storytelling" project 2017-2020
With the project “Scientific Storytelling”, the Goethe-Institut Cairo has been aiming to expand opportunities for discussion and exchange of views on socially critical topics since 2017, thereby creating pre-political spaces and strengthening civil society participation in the North Africa / Middle East region. This is done by offering training formats for journalists on the one hand and upgrading the area of science journalism in the region on the other.
As part of the project, workshops have been offered in the past three years, visitor trips to Germany and journalist exchanges have been organized, and a conference has been held.
The evaluation will analyze the impact of the project on science journalists in the MENA region as well as the cooperation between the Goethe-Institut and the DAAD.
Method
The evaluation follows a tripartite approach based on biographical analysis, a structure and network analysis as well as a cooperation analysis. To answer all relevant questions, qualitative (document analysis, qualitative interviews, biographical interviews) and quantitative methods (online survey) are used.
