This Salon of Cultures digital exhibit “The Viennese Yammering” focuses on the art of whining and complaining as a viennese invention. The work of austrian visual artists from all over the country, Koloman Kann, Julia Bugram, Lani Kotz and Samuel Linus Gromann expresses this artistic discourse under the curatorial direction of Osama Zatar. In the framework of the inauguration of this exhibition there will be a concert by syrian oud player Orwa Saleh.

The action of yammering is conceptualized as a coping strategy, where recognising problems, complaining about them, accepting them and trying to solve them is part of the somehow natural or internalized discourse of the viennese.

The exhibition at EDUCULT’s premises in Q21 of the MuseumsQuartier Wien can be visited by appointment at oliver.loescher@educult.at within our opening hours (Monday to Friday 09:00 -17:00).
