Communication

Applied research and cultural work thrive on exchange – and that is exactly where we come in. Science communication is the key to actively involving people in research and shaping knowledge as a shared learning process. Insights arise in all areas of life, and we consider different types of knowledge as equally valuable. That’s why we create formats and spaces in which science can be further developed together.

Forms

Dialogue:

To contribute to societal exchange, we organise and facilitate conferences, networking events, and platforms that bring people together and enable collaborative learning.

Diverse Formats:

We convey knowledge in a variety of ways – from publications to interactive offerings for a diverse audience. These include presentations, exchange events, podcasts, and workshops for different age groups and target audiences. Our formats create new approaches and provide space for pluralistic perspectives.

Appropriate Channels:

Depending on our partners and target audiences, we identify the most suitable forms and channels for communication. This can include specific knowledge-transfer projects as well as various digital activities on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

methods

Participatory and Interactive Training:

With formats such as our Summer Academy, we create spaces where people can experience science, engage in conversations, and develop new perspectives. In workshops, we develop goals, impart knowledge about evaluation and impact modelling, and reflect on results and topics. The focus in on exchange and the connection between theory and practice.

Citizen Science und Collaborative Research:

With approaches like inquiry-based learning and citizen science, we invite people to develop their own questions, conduct their own research, and make their results visible. Especially with young people, we explore ways of conducting joint research and strengthening self-efficacy.

Knowledge Transfer

Spring Academy / Summer Academy

The academies bring international students to Vienna to explore cultural policy through hands-on approaches. We design and deliver the programmes with lectures, workshops, and excursions that foster interdisciplinary exchange and global perspectives on cultural education.

Sparkling Science: Colonialism today?! What does this have to do with me?

From 2022 to 2024, Sparkling Science focuses on colonial legacies at the Natural History Museum in Vienna. We support school pupils in designing interactive educational programmes that highlight colonial continuities and provide museums with concrete recommendations for decolonial practices.
