ICCPR 2026
International Conference for Cultural Policy Research in Ottawa
From August 17 to 22, 2026, the International Conference on Cultural Policy Research (ICCPR) will bring together approximately 300 scholars and cultural policy experts from around the world at the University of Ottawa in Canada. EDUCULT will be represented by Managing Director Aron Weigl and will contribute the latest research findings on democratic challenges, cultural participation, and regional cultural development to the international scholarly discourse.
EDUCULT will participate with a presentation of a research paper as well as a panel organized jointly with partners from Germany and the U.S. The roundtable “Neutrality as a Battleground” will address issues of cultural funding, political polarization, and artistic freedom. In his research paper, Aron Weigl examines cultural and linguistic differences as a challenge to democracy-oriented regional cultural development. In addition, he will participate as a member of the ICCPR’s Scientific Board.
The contributions offer international comparative perspectives on current cultural-policy conflicts and open up discussions on issues of participation, equality, anti-discrimination, and democratic responsibility. The insights and ideas gained can then be fed back into the Austrian cultural-policy discourse.
