Kaleidoscope in practice: Exploring Art-Based Engagement in Youth Work
A Pilot Workshop as Part of the Erasmus+ Project Kaleidoscope
How can youth workers use artistic methods to empower young people, share their stories, and experience a sense of community? What creative tools help build connections between people from different backgrounds – and how can cultural competence be further developed in everyday work with young people?
The European project Kaleidoscope brings together six partner organisations from Austria, Cyprus, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, and Portugal, with the aim of empowering young people through artistic expression. At its core is the ABEE (Art-Based Engagement Ethnography) Training Programme, which equips youth workers with innovative, arts-based methods and strengthens their cultural competencies.
The programme consists of six modules:
- Art-Based Engagement Ethnography (ABEE)
- Cultural Competence
- Digital Art and Technology
- Trauma-Sensitive Approaches
- Inclusion and Social Integration, and
- Conflict Resolution & Community Dialogue.
In June 2026, the training programme will be piloted for the first time across all six partner countries. The pilot workshop “Kaleidoscope in practice: Artistic Approaches in Youth Work” in Vienna will focus on hands-on methods and tools that practitioners can apply directly in their own work. The workshop is aimed at youth workers and all professionals working with young people.
The free-of-charge workshop will take place on 17 June 2026, from 12:00 to 17:00, at EDUCULT, Museumsplatz 1/4/3, 1070 Vienna.
The workshop will be held in German. However, if needed, we are happy to provide language support. In this case, please let us know at the time of registration.
