„Art is the only format exceeding any formatting“
Working as the founding director of EDUCULT, and formerly as director of the Austrian Cultural Service (ÖKS) for many years, with a background as music educator and political scientist, Michael Wimmer has gained comprehensive experiences in the collaboration between the arts, culture and education.
He is a lecturer at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and on cultural policy at the Institute for Theatre and Media Studies, Vienna University. He is a consultant for the Austrian Ministry for Education, Culture and the Arts and a member of the ministerial expert committee on the New Middle School since 2007.
On the international level, Michael Wimmer is an experienced consultant for the Council of Europe, the UNESCO and the European Commission, which asked him to join the EU Expert Network on Culture. He is also a member of the scientific committee of the International Conference for Cultural Policy Research (iccpr).
