Healthy with SESAM

“Healthy with SESAM” is a continuation of the SESAM School, Parents and Social Space project. Based on various events, especially for families affected by poverty or socio-economically disadvantaged families at public schools and kindergartens in Vienna and Lower Austria, the project aims to promote awareness of child health among parents and in the child’s social environment.

Following the evaluation of SESAM 2021-2022, we also examined the effects of the project in this phase, which is funded by the Fonds Gesundes Österreich (FGÖ). The focus will be on the question of the extent to which it is possible to provide sustainable support in terms of to parents’ commitment to their children’s health by strengthening cooperation between all those involved in the educational pathway and growing up.

We conducted interviews with educators and teachers, cooperation partners (e.g. migrant associations) and the project team. In addition, four events were observed and parents participating on site were interviewed.
